Melva Dean Lovell

Melva Dean Lovell, 90, of Clarksville, MO, passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at the Elsberry Health Care Center in Elsberry, MO. A memorial visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, January 16th at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana, MO. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M Friday, January 17th at the Mary Queen of Peace Church in Clarksville, MO. Father Henry Ussher officiating. Burial of her ashes will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery near Clarksville. Melva was born on March 16, 1934 in Vandalia, MO to Isaac Walker and Adeline Cora Nodler Walker. She was married to Bill Lovell on June 12, 1954 in Louisiana, MO and he preceded her in death on December 18, 2002. She is survived by 2 sons, Randy Lovell (Mary) of Clarksville, MO and Ron Lovell (Stephanie) of Palm Bay, FL, 4 grandchildren, Steven Lovell (Kim) of Clarksville, MO, Brent Lovell (Nicole) of Whiteside, MO, Zachary Lovell (Elicia) of Fountain, CO, and Billi Lovell of Palm Bay, FL, 5 great grandchildren, Jacob Lovell, Hailey Lovell, Grayson Lovell, Sadee Lovell, and Ryker Lovell, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, a son Rick Lovell in 2010, and all of her siblings, Catherine Murry, Richard Walker, Delbert Walker, Cecelia Winkler, and Genie Walker. Melva was a graduate of Louisiana High School. She had worked at various places over the years including Kamp Togs Garment Factory, Southwestern Bell, and her most recent employment at Holcim Cement in Clarksville, MO until her retirement. She had been a member of the Clarksville Boat Club and St. Mary’s Alter Sodality, was active with fundraising for the Greenwood Cemetery and the Interchurch Council of Pike County. She enjoyed growing and taking care of her flowers, playing cards, and having dinner with the local widows on Wednesday nights. She was an avid walker and started taking regular walks with friends years ago until no longer able. She especially liked walking along the beach searching for seashells and loved spending time with her family. Memorials may be made to the Greenwood Cemetery.
