Louise Schaffer

Louise Schaffer, 100, of Clarksville, MO, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2024 at Lynn’s Heritage House in Louisiana, MO. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana, MO. The Rev. Jason Mirikitani officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until time of service Saturday at the funeral home. Graveside services to bury her urn at Greenwood Cemetery in Clarksville, MO will follow the service. Louise was born on December 28, 1923 in Colmar, IL to Luke Logan and Lorene Bilderback Logan. They moved to LaGrange, MO while she was an infant, and then to Taylor, MO at age 9. She graduated from Palmyra High School in 1941. She was married to Millen Lee Schaffer on January 17, 1946. They moved to the family farm near Clarksville, MO in 1963. She lived on the family farm until February 2022 when she moved to Lynn’s Heritage House. She is survived by her son, Dale (Jane) Schaffer, daughter in-law, Charlotte Schaffer, brother in-law, Dr. Joe Bennett, 7 grandchildren, Mark (Lesley) Malloy, Trish (Billy) Quinlan, Colleen Malloy, Allison (John Campbell) Schaffer, Tara (Tim) Jordan, Eric (Michele) Schaffer, and Ryan (Kaylee) Schaffer, and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on June 26, 1997, a daughter, Carol Malloy, 2 sons, David Schaffer and Lonnie Schaffer, 2 brothers, Louis Logan and Forrest Logan, a sister, Eileen Bennett, a son in-law, Robert Malloy, and a great grandson, Christopher Malloy. Louise was a member of the Annada Christian Church, where she served on the board for many years. She enjoyed volunteering at Vacation Bible School, caring for the flowerbeds, and cleaning and decorating the church for special events. She also volunteered in assisting the activities director at Smith-Barr Manor in Louisiana, MO, and with operation Liftoff in St. Louis, MO. She was a homemaker first and foremost and loved welcoming family and friends to her home. She loved all aspects of nature, especially the changing seasons. She loved gardening and tending her many flowerbeds. She enjoyed bird watching and feeding the hummingbirds, but caring for her beloved dogs was the light of her days. She enjoyed traveling and said “that with travel comes knowledge”. She had many special trips, but especially loved going to Hawaii with Allison, to Ireland with Bob, Carol and Trish, and to California with her sister Eileen. She was a talented seamstress and also enjoyed crocheting. Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Hospitals in care of the funeral home.
