Funeral services for Mr. John Leroy Starman, 74, of Louisiana, Missouri were held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, November 18th at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana, Missouri. The Rev. Brook Kurth assisted by The Rev. Alvin Young officiated. Visitation was held from 5 to 8 P.M. Saturday, November 17th at the funeral home. Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery near Louisiana, Missouri. John went to be with Jesus after a courageous short battle with cancer on November 15, 2007. He was born May 3, 1933 in Rockport, Illinois to Earl Arthur Starman and Esther Grace Snyder Starman. John married his sweetheart, Lois Virginia Carr on October 25, 1952 at Pittsfield, Illinois and they had recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. John is survived by three sons, John Leroy Starman, Jr. and friend, Nicki of Rockport, Illinois, Ronald Wayne Starman and wife, Carla of Rockport, Illinois and Robert Earl Starman and wife, Toni of Clarksville, Missouri, Two daughters, Lois Sue Griffith and husband, Melvin of Battlefield, Missouri and Pamela Jo Stoddard and husband, Randy of Republic, Missouri, 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, Three sisters, Maude Saunders of Louisiana, Missouri, Virginia Williams of Summer Hill, Illinois and Jean Clendenny and friend, Lee of Meadow Brook, Illinois. He was preceded in death by one brother, Earl Arthur Starman, Jr. who died in 2003 and a sister, Geraldine Cook. John had owned and operated the Louisiana Paint and Auto Body Shop in Louisiana for many years. He was later employed by Dyno-Noble Chemical Company of Carthage, Missouri and Rogers Carthage of Louisiana, Missouri as an over the road truck driver until his retirement. He was a member of the Grassy Creek Baptist Church. A member of Odd Fellows Lodge #28 in Louisiana and had received his 50 year membership pin. He was a member of Teamsters Local 688 of St. Louis, Missouri. John was a wonderful father to his five children and was adored by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved his family, church and was an avid fisherman. All who knew him loved him. Pallbearers were; Ronnie Henry, Steve Poyser, Charlie Baker, Bob Cashman, Brian Finley and Brian Oliver.
