Florence M. DeWeese, 91, a lifelong resident of Louisiana, MO, passed away on Monday, September 12, 2022 at the Pike County Memorial Hospital in Louisiana, MO. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 P.M. at the First Christian Church in Louisiana on Saturday, September 17, 2022. The Rev. Dave Rubemeyer officiating. Burial of her urn will follow the service at Riverview Cemetery in Louisiana. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until time of service Saturday at the church. Florence was born on December 28, 1930 in Louisiana, MO to Ira Reed and Darleyne Phillips Reed. She was married to Warren Eugene “Gene” DeWeese on March 22, 1954 at the First Baptist Church in Louisiana, MO. She is survived by 2 sons, Dennis DeWeese (Melody) of Louisiana, MO and David DeWeese (Barbara) of Columbia, IL, a daughter, Danita Martin (Kenneth) of Louisiana, MO, 6 grandchildren, Kyle DeWeese (Natalie) of Wentzville, MO, Timothy DeWeese, Douglas DeWeese (Elizabeth) of Coral Springs, FL, Daniel DeWeese (Melody) of St. Louis, MO, Nathan Martin (Megan) of Hernando, MS, and Hayley Martin of Louisiana, MO, 4 great grandchildren, Brady and Jaxon DeWeese of Wentzville, MO, and Dylan and Demri DeWeese of St. Louis, MO, a sister, Carol Reed Herndon Jenkins (Don) of Louisiana, MO, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Ira and Darleyne Reed, her husband Gene on January 17, 1986, a brother William Ira Reed, a sister in-law Betty K. Reed, and a brother in-law Howard Dwayne “Deke” Herndon. Florence worked at Stark Bros. as a teen. She worked for Dr. Lewellen and Dr. Stuerman as a medical technician from the early 50’s until Dr. Lewellen’s death in the early 1980’s. She then was employed by Dr. Michael Vallar as his receptionist from the late 80’s until her retirement in December of 2017 at the age of 87. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Louisiana. Her main hobby was her family. Honorary pallbearers will be Kyle DeWeese, Timothy DeWeese, Douglas DeWeese, Daniel DeWeese, Nathan Martin, and Hayley Martin. Memorials may be made to donor’s choice in care of the funeral home.
