Daney Robinson

Mr. Daney Robinson, 86, of Louisiana, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2016 at the St. Joseph Hospital in St. Charles, Missouri. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00am Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana, MO. The Rev. Randall Cone will officiate. Visitation will be held from 9:00am until time of service at 11:00am Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Louisiana, MO. American Legion Post #370 will conduct graveside military honors. Honorary pallbearers are Cliff Bibb, Dude Branstetter, Jeffrey DeBourge, Justin DeBourge, Dane Shade, Isaac Shade, Dan DeBourge, Dustin DeBourge, and Mark Shade. Daney was born on February 14, 1930 in Elsberry, Missouri to John and Catherine Robinson. He married Barbara Alice Morrow on August 18, 1951 in Hannibal, MO. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Barbara, his two daughters and their husbands, Danette and Dan DeBourge and Linda and Mark Shade, a brother, Jerry (Claire) Robinson of Hannibal, MO. He also leaves 4 grandsons, Jeffrey (Dustin) DeBourge, Justin (Whitney) DeBourge, Dane Shade, Isaac Shade and a great granddaughter, Ariadne DeBourge. Extended family includes: sister in-laws, Velda Morrow Blackorby, Bernice Morrow Grimsley, Shirley Morrow, Sally Cramm, Minnie (Bruce) Cooper, Kathy (Alan) Reynolds, Judy (Gary) Hinch, Rosemary (Bob) Smith and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Catherine Robinson, his brother, Gene Dale Robinson, and in-laws: Wilbur Morrow, Bill Grimsley, Bill Morrow, George and Erma Claus, Joe Morrow, Duane Cramm, and Richard Morrow. Daney served as a Sergeant in the Marine Corps in Aviation Operations from 1948-1952 overseas on the aircraft carrier, USS Leyte. After his military service, he began working for Missouri Edison as a lineman. Throughout his 33 year career, he worked in the meter department as a purchasing agent and accountant. He retired as an auditor from Union Electric in 1985. During his retirement, he worked part-time at MASH II as a bookkeeper for 25 years. Daney was a member of the Elks Lodge in Louisiana for 50 years serving as the secretary for 18 years. He was also a member of the American Legion. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Louisiana, MO, serving as Deacon Emeritus. Daney's greatest pride was his family and extended family. He enjoyed their visits, the many family reunions and loved talking about their accomplishments. Daney was a proud Marine, and was honored to be a select veteran on the Central Missouri Honor Flight #21 in November 2012. Daney was known to stop by the Marine Recruiting Offices just to visit with fellow Marines. Memorials can be made to the Central Missouri Honor Flight.
