My mother, Ruth Loreen Scoggin, 89, of Clarksville, Missouri passed on this evening Friday, October 17, 2014 at 11:17 P.M. I was honored to have known her and hold her hand as she past from this life. The Heavens are a little brighter and the earth a little dimmer this night as her sweet light has past from this world. She was born August 1, 1925 in Birch Tree, Missouri the daughter of Clay and Annie King Windes. She married William Alfred Scoggin in 1946 at Mexico, Missouri and he preceded her in death in 1955. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Clay and Annie Windes and one brother, Alvin Windes. She is survived by two sons; Michael Scoggin (Carol) of Brandon, Florida and Daniel W. Scoggin (Heidi) of Winfield, Missouri, Five Grandchildren; Tara Dorey, Jeannette Phippin, Larry Scoggin, Bill Scoggin and Michele Mabry, Twelve Great-Grandchildren; countless nieces and nephews, a special niece and caregiver, Kathy Starkey and family and one cousin. Mrs. Scoggin received her Master’s Degree in Nutrition from the University Of Missouri at Columbia, Missouri. She had taught Home Economics at the Clopton High School in Clarksville, Missouri from 1953 until her retirement in 1985. She continued to influence countless lives with her teaching and encouragement. She was a 50 year member of the Clarksville Methodist Church and had been very active in the church. Ruth was truly successful in life because she left the world a little better by being here. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 25, 2014 at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana, Missouri. The Rev. Jeannie Webdell will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, October 24th and from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at l:00 p.m. Saturday, October 25th at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Eolia Cemetery at Eolia, Missouri. Pallbearers are; Larry Scoggin. Bill Scoggin, Bart Mabry, David Dillenger, Jeanette Phippin and Tara Dorey. Memorials may be given to the Pike County Memorial Hospital Nursing Scholarship Fund.
