Oscar "Babe" Henry

Funeral services for Mr. Oscar Louis “Babe” Henry, 90, of Louisiana, MO, will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, May 9th at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana, MO. The Rev. Randall Cone will officiate. Burial will be at the Riverview Cemetery in Louisiana, MO. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until time of service at 2:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. He was born on April 29, 1926 in Pike County, Missouri to Doss Henry and Ethel Florine Esterbrook Henry. He was married to Betty Jean Boyer on May 13th, 1947 in St. Charles, MO and she preceded him in death on October 19, 2002. He is survived by 2 sons, David Olin Henry and wife Laurel of Southern California, and Steve Lowell Henry of Louisiana, MO, a daughter, Charlotte Lilley and husband Tom of Louisiana, MO, 7 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren, a sister, Wilma Flansburg of Independence, MO, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Doss and Ethel Henry, one son, Raymond Louis Henry, 2 brothers, Doss Henry, Jr. and William Henry, and a sister, Katherine Whitfield. He was a lifelong resident of Pike County, MO. He was a Veteran serving with the US Navy during WWII in the Philippines. He worked as a truck driver for Russ Nixon’s Auto Parts Store in Bowling Green, MO for over 30 years. He retired in 1987. He was a member of the American Legion Post 370 in Louisiana, MO and the Louisiana Boat Club. He was Presbyterian by faith. He loved doing projects around the house until ill health left him unable.
