Nada Grace Carlisle Barker Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Mrs. Nada Grace Carlisle Barker, 96, of Louisiana, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at the Maple Grove Lodge in Louisiana, Missouri. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 21, 2015 at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana, Missouri. The Rev. Bill Maupin will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until time of service at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Riverview Cemetery in Louisiana, Missouri. She was born on January 30, 1919 in Grouthton, Illinois the daughter of John William Carlisle and Grace McMarrow Carlisle. She married R.C. “Doc” Barker on September 2, 1936 in Shawneetown, Illinois and he preceded her in death on February 28, 1994. She is survived by children, William R. Barker (Joann) of Kansas City, Missouri, Sherrill A. Wahlgren (Ron) of Louisiana, Missouri, and Richard E. Barker (Pat) of Springfield, Illinois, 8 grandchildren, Robert Wahlgren, Elizabeth Jarvis, Bradley Wahlgren, Richard “Jake” Barker, William Boyd Barker, Lori Riti, Justin Barker, and Elicia Dunk, 22 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, Victor Carlisle, Collis Carlisle, Virgil Carlisle, and a sister, Marcia Posner. She graduated from Normandy High School in St. Louis, Missouri. She moved to Louisiana in 1943 from St. Louis. She opened a restaurant in Louisiana which she operated for a few years. In 1956 she was employed as a dietician for the public school in Louisiana, Missouri and also ran a catering service for a while. She was later employed in the office of Stark Brothers Nursery until retirement. She was a very active member of the First Baptist Church in Louisiana, Missouri and had also worked as a Pink Lady for the Pike County Memorial Hospital. She will be greatly missed by her family. Pallbearers will be the grandchildren of Mrs. Barker. Memorials may be given to the First Baptist Church or to the Alzheimer’s Association in care of Collier Funeral Homes, Inc., 117 Barnard Drive, Louisiana, Missouri 63353.
