Lloyd Robert Stewart, 93, of Mexico MO Veterans Home, formally of Bowling Green, MO, died on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at the Harry S. Truman VA Hospital in Columbia, MO. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana, MO. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home. Lloyd was born on September 13, 1921 to Lloyd Jay and Vience Ella Sevier Stewart Kroker in the Clarksville area. He married Lorraine Lucille Preston on April 21, 1945 in Tacoma, WA. Lloyd is survived by his son, Lloyd Jean Stewart and wife Julie of Slayton, MN, one sister, Sylvia Louise Stewart McManemy Holt of Tacoma, WA, along with lots of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lorraine (2000), a daughter Leona Lorraine Stewart Stone (1995), a brother Jean Bartlett Stewart (1995), and a sister Wilma Lenteen Stewart (1936). Lloyd had to quit school when his dad died so he could work and help his family out. He worked in the CCC camp then he went into the Navy where he was a boiler operator. He owned a gas station in Washington. Later he moved back to Missouri. He was a mailman for Route 2 in Bowling Green, MO. Lloyd was an outdoorsman who loved animals, gardening and hiking. He loved to quote poetry, tell stories, sing songs, read his Bible, and praise his Heavenly Father (Yahweh). He was an ordained minister. One saying he was noted for when you asked him how things were going was “Life is one continuous round of pleasure”. His last few years were spent at the VA Home in Mexico where he made new friends. He enjoyed visits from Amy and Betty Steadman, Angel Rudnick (his top of the morning girl), and his adopted grandchildren Elijah, Josiah, and Hannah. Pallbearers will be Roger Preston, Roy Sisson, David Land III, Bill Motley, Jeremiah Steadman, and David Steadman. Memorial donations may be given to the Mt.Zion Cemetery Fund.
