Linda Kay Cooper passed away at Laclede Groves, in Webster Groves, Missouri, on March 15, 2014, after a long illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Sellers of Vandalia, MO; Mary Katherine (Kate) Sellers of Louisiana, MO; three aunts, Pearl Sisson of Louisiana, Irene Wilhelm of Hannibal, and Rosalie Murr of Louisiana, and her grandparents, all of Louisiana. Linda is survived by her husband, Jim Cooper, of Webster Groves; daughter, Laura Cooper Fox and her husband Dennis, of Creve Coeur; daughter Valerie Cooper, of Crestwood; grandson Brennan Fox, granddaughter Natalie Fox, and grandsons Owen Meier and Griffin Meier; sister Janet Dickman and husband Dave of Chantilly, VA; sister Kim Ferguson and husband Wade of Troy, MO; and two nephews and a niece. Linda Kay Sellers was born to George Sellers and Mary Katherine (Ealum) Sellers in Louisiana, Missouri, on September 14, 1949. Linda grew up in Clarksville and was a 1967 graduate of Clopton High School. In 1993, she was graduated from Missouri State University, with honors, Summa Cum Laude. She worked in the offices of Jacksonville High School, Jacksonville, Illinois, for a number of years. Linda was a paralegal for intellectual property law firms in Springfield and St. Louis. Before becoming ill, she was a legal assistant in the intellectual property department for Pfizer, filing international patents for prescription drugs. She and Jim Cooper of Clarksville were married June 16, 1968, in the Louisiana Christian Church. They have two daughters, Laura Ann and Valerie Beth. Linda was active in civil rights and human rights causes. She was an avid music fan of many genres, attending concerts by The Beatles, Willie Nelson, Delbert McClinton, and many, many more. She proudly took a group to the first Farm Aid Concert in 1985. She enjoyed travel with Jim, particularly to her beloved New Orleans. Visitation at Kutis Funeral Chapel, 10151 Gravois, St. Louis on Sunday evening, March 23, 2014, from 5 to 8 PM; and at Collier Funeral Home, Louisiana, Missouri, on Monday, March 24 from 4 to 6 PM, with a celebration of life to follow at 6:00 PM.
