Mr. Donald Kent Taylor, 77, of Clarksville, Missouri passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at the Maple Grove Lodge Nursing Home in Louisiana, Missouri. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 18, 2016 at the Greenwood Cemetery in Clarksville, Missouri. Mr. Robert Hoehn will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 17th at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana, Missouri. Kent was born June 12, 1939 in Louisiana, Missouri the son of Joe and Laura May Howington Taylor. He married Bertha Mae Thomas March 6, 1964 at Edgewood, Missouri. He is survived by his wife, Bertha Mae Taylor of the home, two cousins; Raymond “Dale” Cashman of Louisiana, Missouri and Tommy Hamlett of the State of Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Laura May Taylor, one son; Joe Thomas Taylor who died July 22, 1987 and an infant sister, Jo Ann Taylor who died at birth. Kent graduated from the Clopton High School in 1957. He had been employed as the Clarksville Utilities Superintendent for 21 years. He was later employed as a Sheriff’s Deputy for the Pike County Sheriff’s Department for 13 years retiring in 2005. Kent was a Charter Member of Historic Clarksville, Inc., Past member of the Louisiana Elks Lodge 791, Clarksville Boat Club, Clarksville Odd Fellows Lodge #53, Pike County Democrat Club and Democrat Central Committee. Pallbearers are; Jimmie Wells, Don Nacke, Pete Cannon, Gerald Taylor, Roger Dowell and Bill Hunter. Memorials may be given to the Greenwood Cemetery Association in care of Collier Funeral Homes, Inc., 117 Barnard Dr., Louisiana, Missouri 63353.
