Julia Lorena Oblein

January 2, 1929 - February 15, 2014

Funeral services for Mrs. Julia Lorena Oblein, 85, of Clarksville, Missouri, will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 21, 2014 at the First Christian Church in Clarksville, Missouri. The Rev. Al Boatman will officiate. Burial will be at the Greenwood Cemetery in Clarksville, Missouri. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday, February 20th at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana, Missouri. Mrs. Oblein passed away in Oklahoma City on February 15th 2014. Julia was born on her family farm near Clarksville on January 2nd 1929 to Edward Hall and Eugenia Bryant. Julia was the 9th of 12 children and received her early education in a one room school house near the family farm. She graduated from high school a year early at age 16 and worked as a bookkeeper at Clifford Bank in Clarksville. In July of 1952 Julia went on vacation to North Carolina to visit her older brother Jack who was serving in the Air Force. While on vacation she met Alexander H. Oblein who proposed to her after knowing her only 5 days. They were married in Clarksville 3 months later on October 19th 1952 after spending only 21 days together. Alex and Julia were together 61 happy years and never had an argument. They had three boys, Alex in 1953, Paul in 1955 and Jack in 1959. During their Marriage the family lived in Fayetteville, North Carolina; Alexandria, Louisiana; Scott AFB, Illinois; Omaha, Nebraska; Great Falls, Montana; Renton, Washington; Macomb, Illinois; and Retired in Clarksville, Missouri. Julia was very active in the Clarksville Christian Church, teaching Sunday school, Singing in the Choir, and playing the piano. She loved beating Alex and the family at cards and enjoyed playing Bridge with the Bridge club in Clarksville. She was an excellent cook and loved nothing more than having a house full of people over for lunch or dinner. She is survived by her Husband Alex Oblein, Clarksville Missouri. Children: Alex and Linda Oblein of Piedmont, Oklahoma, Paul and Kim Oblein of St. Peters, Missouri, and Jack and Cynthia Oblein of Kenosha, Wisconsin. Grandchildren: David Oblein, Becky (Oblein) Miller (Jeremie), Mathew Oblein, Travis Oblein, Joshua Oblein (Ashley), Alexander Oblein, Mary Oblein, and Megan Oblein. Great Grand Children: Skylin Kirk , Connor Oblein, Lillian Oblein, Alexis Miller, Brooklyn Miller. Her Siblings: Edward Bryant of San Antonio, Texas and Joe Bryant of Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents Edward Hall Bryant and Eugenia Bryant. Her brothers and sisters: Florence Eugenia Mitchell, Benjamin Witten Bryant, Jack Dudley Bryant, Ann Elizabeth Praul, Dorothy Manor, Billy John Bryant, Mett Beauchamp Bryant, Mary Louise Neikirk, Paul Ambrose Bryant. Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Bill Simpson, Gene Roethlisberger, David Oblein, and Curtis Mitchell. Active pallbearers will be Matthew Oblein, Travis Oblein, Joshua Oblein, Alex Oblein, Jeremy Miller, and Charles Simpson II. Memorials may be given to Pike County Hospice or the First Christian Church of Clarksville, Missouri in care of Collier Funeral Homes, Inc., 117 Barnard Drive, Louisiana, Missouri 63353.
