Gene Colbert

November 20, 1932 - September 16, 2020

Mr. William “Gene” Colbert, 87, of Louisiana, MO, formerly of Clarksville, MO, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at the Maple Grove Lodge Nursing Home in Louisiana, MO. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Louisiana, MO. The Father Lou Dorn officiating. Burial will be at the St. Joseph Cemetery in Louisiana, MO. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Friday, September 18th at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana, MO. Gene was born on November 20, 1932 near Eolia, MO to Kenneth Colbert and Elza Ellen Royster Colbert. He was married to Martha May Calhoun on October 14, 1967 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Millwood, MO. She preceded him in death on August 18, 2015. He is survived by a daughter, Mary Ellen Huckstep (Jeff) of Clarksville, MO, a son, William James “Bill” Colbert of Bowling Green, MO, 5 grandchildren, Dolon (Sierra) Colbert of Frankford, MO, MyKelti AnnaLee Colbert of Bowling Green, MO, Jenna (Sean) Casey of Wentzville, MO, Sarah Huckstep of Clarksville, MO, and Laura Huckstep of Clarksville, MO, a great grandchild, Luna Bella Casey of Wentzville, MO, a sister, Lois Schneidler of Bowling Green, MO, a brother, Kenny Colbert of Marthasville, MO, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, and 3 sisters, Bernice McManus, Muriel Grote, and Louise Mudd. Gene was a graduate of Silex High School. He was a veteran serving in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, and the VFW #4610 in Clarksville, MO. He was employed at Louisiana Manufacturing Co. for over 30+ years until his retirement. He also worked with several area farmers over the years. He enjoyed being outdoors, but mostly spending time with his grandchildren. Memorials may be given to the St. Joseph Cemetery or the donor’s choice in care of Collier Funeral Home, 117 Barnard Drive, Louisiana, MO 63353.
