Charles MARK Henley, 59, died from cancer in St. Joseph Hospital West in Lake St. Louis, MO on Saturday, March 1, 2014. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 4 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Collier Funeral Home, 117 Barnard Drive, Louisiana 63353 (573) 754-4800. Funeral services are planned for the following day, March 5 at 11 a.m., at Ramsey Creek Baptist Church, 20389 Highway W, Clarksville 63336. The internment will follow immediately at Greenwood Cemetery. Mark was born in Louisiana, the son of Charles Alfred and Eleanor Smith Canady Henley, on August 13, 1954. He graduated from Clopton High School in 1972. Most of his working career was as a heavy equipment operator at Wayne B. Smith, Inc., rock quarry and barge terminal. Mark was not just a sport spectator; he was a player! His love of sports and travel came together during his family trip to the 2004 Summer Olympics in Greece. He is survived by Charles Henley; Wende Henley; sisters Sally Cakouros, Molly and Rachel Henley; daughters Jeannie White, Annie Gonzalez, Audrey Goodman and Mikki Barber; son Fred Rule and nine grandchildren. Mark is predeceased by Eleanor Henley, Jane Perez and son John Paul Mark Henley. His grandparents were Lee Raymond and Willie Neoma Gillespie Henley, and William Alexander and Clemmer Lee Howdeshell Canady. Rev. Lee Sanders of First Baptist Church of O’Fallon will officiate. Pallbearers will include Mark’s son-in-law Juan Gonzalez and his teammates Jeff Bange, Dave Couts, Joey Graham, Ernie Painter and Dan Portwood. Honorary pallbearers are grandson Jose Dela Rosa and Dr. John Gray. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Twin Pike Family YMCA, 614 Kelly Lane, Louisiana 63353. Mark’s family and friends will greatly miss him.
