Betty Aldrich Shuford, 87, of Troy, Missouri formerly of Clarksville, Missouri died on Monday, January 30, 2017 at Barnes Jewish Hospital at St. Peters, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 2, 2017 at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana, Missouri. The Rev. Bill Maupin will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Clarksville, Missouri. Betty was born on August 13, 1929 in Ralls County, Missouri, the daughter of James S. Aldrich, Sr. and Lucetta Sharp Aldrich. She was united in marriage to Kenneth D. Shuford, Sr., on October 1, 1948 in Louisiana, Missouri. To this union was born one son, Kenneth D. Shuford, Jr. and one daughter, Phyllis Shuford Bryant She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Shuford Bryant (Ron) of Troy, Missouri, five grandchildren; Heather Palmisano (Brian) of Hillsboro, Missouri, Holly Hotop (Gabe) of Perryville, Missouri, Brian Bryant (Lori) of East Brunswick, N.J., Kristy Seidel (Ray) of Aurora, Illinois and Michael Shuford (Stacy) of Elsberry, Missouri, nine great-grandchildren; Jase, Logan, Brendan, Gavin, Griffin, Emmett, Zachary, Braedan and Kelsey. Sister in-laws; Betty Dolbeare of Louisiana, Missouri, Frances (Harry) Koeller of Quincy, Illinois, Sara (Harry) Glidden of LaPlace, Louisiana and Leora Shuford of Phoenix, Arizona and a brother in-law, Donald (Jeanne) Shuford of Peoria, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Shuford, Sr., her son, Kenneth Shuford, Jr., two brothers, Lyndall Aldrich and James Aldrich, Jr. Betty attended school in rural Ralls County and Hannibal High School. She was employed as a Switchboard Operator for the Telephone Company in Louisiana, Missouri where she later met and married Kenneth. The majority of their 63 year marriage was spent in Clarksville where they made their home. She also worked many years in Retail Sales and enjoyed gardening and sharing the works of her labor with family and friends. Betty loved watching her children and grandchildren participate in various sports and cheering them on. Spring and Summer were always spent at the cabin on Eagle Island with many friends and family. Methodist by faith, she enjoyed attending and teaching at the Clarksville United Methodist Church with her children. In recent years she moved to Troy, Missouri to be closer to her daughter and family. Pallbearers will be Gabe Hotop, Brian Palmisano, Ray Seidel, Mike Shuford, Greg Dolbeare, and Eric Dolbeare. Memorials may be given to the Clarksville United Methodist Church Window Restoration Fund in care of Collier Funeral Homes, Inc., 117 Barnard Drive, Louisiana, Missouri 63353 or to the donor’s choice.
