Virgil Sapp

Funeral services for Mr. Virgil Hardin Sapp, 86, of Louisiana, Missouri will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, October 6th at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana, Missouri. The Rev. Joseph LaRocco will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 P.M. Friday, October 5th at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery in Louisiana with Military Honors conducted by members of American Legion Post 370. Mr. Sapp died Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at his home with his grandson, Buddy at his side. He was born March 27, 1921 in Griggsville, Illinois to Arthur and Nellie LeMary Sapp. He was married to Julia M. Bradley, March 20, 1940 in Bowling Green, Missouri and she preceded him in death December 10, 1987. He is survived by one step-daughter, Martha Joann McDonald and husband, Kenneth of Vandalia, Missouri, A daughter in-law, Dora Sapp of Louisiana, Missouri, One brother, Woodrow (Jimmy) Sapp and wife, Beverly of Waburn, Washington, Two sisters, Marie Gonzales of Indianapolis, Indiana and Evelyn Sapp of the State Of Illinois, 7 grandchildren, Virgil E. "Buddy" Sapp and wife, Marilyn of Louisiana, Missouri, Mary Shipley of Louisiana, Missouri, Robert H. Sapp and wife, Jennifer of Winfield, Missouri, Karen Hale of Bowling Green, Missouri, Wesley Meyers and wife, Myra of Midland, North Carolina, John Meyers and wife, Sonja of Columbia, Missouri and Lisa Meyers of Chillicothe, Missouri, 27 Great Grandchildren and 12 Great Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Errett E. "Bud" Sapp, A grandson, Kenneth Sapp and a great grandson, Michael Joseph Meyers. Mr. Sapp had been employed at Stark Brother?s Nursery in Louisiana for 50 years retiring in 1991. He was a veteran serving with the U.S. Navy on an Ammunition Ship during World War II. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Louisiana. Pallbearers are; Buddy Sapp, Robert Sapp, Myles Neff, John Sapp, Melvin Dempsey and Gordon May. Virgil enjoyed the outdoors, the river, hunting, fishing, growing fruit, vegetables and especially wild flowers.
