Roy Peterson

Memorial services for Mr. Roy Wayne Peterson, 62, of Louisiana, Missouri will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 2nd at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana. The Rev. Jeanee Webdell will officiate. Visitation will be held from Noon until time of services at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 2nd at the funeral home. Mr. Peterson passed away at his home in Louisiana Monday, April 13, 2009. His desire was to be cremated. He courageously fought Cancer for over two years. Roy was born January 18, 1947 in Oakland, Iowa to William F. Peterson and Edna D. Perdue Peterson. He married Zona Gail Tomlin September 21, 1968 in Columbia, Missouri and she survives. Roy is also survived by one daughter, Teresa Whitfield and husband, Stacy of Williamsburg, Missouri, One sister, Jane Ann Woodard and husband, Clarence of Columbia, Missouri, One brother, William F. Peterson, Jr. and wife, Ann of Columbia, Missouri, Two granddaughters, Cailin and Mason Whitfield both of Williamsburg, Missouri, Four brother in-laws, Rusty White of Columbia, Missouri, Gary Unterschutz of Hallsville, Missouri, Marvin Tomlin of Columbia, Missouri and Joseph Tomlin of Millersburg, Missouri. His adopted mother, Virginia Teasley of Louisiana, Missouri, Nieces and Nephews and many special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Malissa Ellen Peterson, Three sisters, Marian Lee Peterson, Leta White and Shirley Unterschutz. He had been employed at the Long Bell Lumber Yard in Columbia, Missouri for a number of years. Roy was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving with the United States Army from 1966-1972, serving 16 months in Germany. Roy had a big heart and loved to help people. Roy lived life to the fullest and had the best sense of humor, which he kept until the end. After to moving to Louisiana he pursued his love of fishing and spent many hours fishing for catfish in the Mississippi River. He will be greatly missed, but the world is a better place from having him for 62 years.
