Funeral services for Mr. R. D. Hamlett, 78, of Louisiana, Missouri will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 4th at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana, Missouri. The Rev. Randall Cone will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, January 3rd at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery in Louisiana. R. D. Passed away at his home in Louisiana Tuesday, December 30, 2008. He was born January 18, 1930 in Louisiana, Missouri to Raymond and Goldie Winner Hamlett. He married Charlotte Louise Hunter September 16, 1951 at the First Baptist Church in Louisiana and she preceded him in death June 16, 2003. He is survived by one son; Sid Hamlett and wife, Lucy of Greenwood, Missouri, One daughter, Lee Ann Painter and husband, Ernie of Louisiana, Missouri, Three Granddaughters, Jennifer Edwards of Wood River, Illinois, Brittany Painter of St. Louis, Missouri and Megan Painter of Louisiana, Missouri, One Grandson, Nathan Painter of Columbia, Missouri, Three step-granddaughters, Daniella Apadaca of Greenwood, Missouri, Lili Gonzalez of Pueblo, Colorado and Ericka Standiford of Independence, Missouri, One great-granddaughter, Two great-grandsons, Two step-great grand-daughters,Two step-great grandsons and One brother, George Rives of Eolia, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his step-father, Wilbert G. Rives and Mother Goldie Rives. He graduated from the Louisiana High School with the class of 1948. He had been employed at the Louisiana Post Office for a number of years. He later served as Postmaster of the New London, Missouri Post Office until his retirement in 1973. He attended the First Christian Church in Louisiana. He was a past Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 156 in Louisiana. A member of the Louisiana Elks Lodge #791, Louisiana Boat Club and a past city council member of Louisiana.
