Pearl King

E. Pearl King, 96, of Louisiana, passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at Lynn’s Heritage House. Services were held at Centenary United Methodist Church in Louisiana, MO, with Jeanne Webdell officiating. She was laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery. Pearl was born in Ashburn, MO, September 18, 1915 to Jay McIntyre and Dessie Lee (Houchins) Penrod. They precede her in death. She was raised in the Ashburn Bottoms and lived her entire life in Louisiana, MO. On June 3, 1965 she married Paul D. King of Clarksville, MO. He preceded her in death in 1977. Other survivors include two sons, Russell Jay (R.J.) Allensworth and wife, Annice, of Bowling Green, and Charles Ireland Allensworth of Louisiana; a son-in-law, Don Jenkins of Louisiana; and one brother, Bobby Jay Penrod, and wife, Bonnie, also of Louisiana. Five grandchildren, Christina Allensworth, Ricky Allensworth, and wife, Emilie, all of Bowling Green, Peggy (Jenkins) Griffith and husband, Dennis of Troy, Donna (Jenkins) Woods, and husband Kenneth of Hannibal, and Bobby Jenkins and wife, Julie, of Louisiana. She is further survived by nine great-grandchildren, Reno Hays, Abram Allensworth, Donnie & Dennis Griffith, Christy (Griffith) St. Pierre, Stacy Griffith, Heather (Woods) Durbin, and Tim & Donnie Jenkins. Also surviving are 12 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were a daughter, Carol Lee (Allensworth) Jenkins; a great-granddaughter, Laura Lee Woods; and a sister, Dorothy Lee (Penrod) Traynor. Pearl worked for Pike County Memorial Hospital as a nurse’s assistant in OB from 1962-1998. She was a member of Eastern Star for over 50 years. She was an active member of the Methodist Church as long as her health permitted. Throughout her life she enjoyed traveling, loved to play cards, cook for her family & friends, and go on outings with her friends. Pearl continued to stay active into her 90’s. Pallbearers were Wendell Martin, Bobby Willis, Justin Walker, Tim Jenkins, Donnie Griffith, and Eric House.
