Funeral services for Ms. Paula Rae Elliott, 65, of Louisiana, Missouri will be held at 11:00 A. M. Thursday, February 9, 2012 at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana. The Rev. Alvin Young will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 P.M. Wednesday, February 8th at the funeral home. Burial will be in the McIlwee Cemetery near Louisiana, Missouri. Paula passed away Sunday, February 5, 2012 at the Des Peres Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. She was born January 10, 1947 in Louisiana, Missouri to Avery and Amelia Hagen Elliott. She is survived by one daughter; Reesa VanHooser of Louisiana, Missouri, Three grandchildren; Haley Kristine VanHooser of Columbia, Missouri, Matthew Stephen VanHooser and Kaitlyn Nicole VanHooser both of Louisiana, Missouri, One sister; Connie Hammitt and husband, Steven of Rockport, Illinois, one nephew; Stephen J. Hammitt and wife, Kim of Rockport, Illinois, three nieces; Stephanie Gilbert and husband, Cory and Stacey Leonard and husband, Michael all of the State of Texas and Sarah Madison and husband, Dale of Edwardsville, Illinois, 4 great nephews and 3 great nieces and her special pet and companion "Bear". She was preceded in death by her father, Avery Elliott, April 14, 1999, her mother, Amelia Elliott, January 20, 2001 and her grandparents, Joel and Floy Elliott. Paula graduated from the Louisiana High School in 1964. She graduated from St. Charles Community College in St. Charles, M0 with an Associate Degree in Nursing. She had been employed in St. Louis, Missouri for a number of years before accepting employment as an RN at the Silex Community Care Nursing Home in Silex, Missouri where she was presently working. Paula loved going to the activities her grandchildren were involved in and she was an avid lover of animals, especially her horses. Honorary pallbearers are; Elbert T. VanHooser Jr. and Scott VanHooser. Active pallbearers are; Matthew VanHooser, Steven Hammitt, Tyler Davidson, Dustin Harness, Brandon LaRue and Cody Boyle.
