Michael Anthony Dean Cottrell

Michael Anthony Dean Cottrell, 41, of Clarksville, MO, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024 at the St. Joseph Hospital West in Lake St. Louis, MO. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, January 26, 2024 at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana, MO. Brad Cottrell assisted by David Henderson will officiate. Burial will be at the Dover Cemetery near Clarksville, MO. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until time of service Friday at the funeral home. Michael was born on March 10, 1982 in Louisiana, MO to John E. and Martha A. Niffen Cottrell. He was a graduate of Clopton High School with the Class of 2000 and he was a member of the Dover Baptist Church near Clarksville, MO. He is survived by his parents, John and Marcie Cottrell of Clarksville, MO, 2 brothers John Cottrell II (Cheryl) of Clarksville, MO and Brad Cottrell (Stacy) of Troy, MO, a nephew John Cottrell III (Taylor), and a niece, Jessica Cottrell. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Robert Cottrell, paternal grandmother, Anna Mae Cottrell, maternal grandparents Elmer R. and Martha Niffen, and 5 uncles, Elmer L. “Buster” Niffen, Donald Cottrell, Glen C. Cottrell, Russell D. Cottrell, and Richard D. “Butch” Cottrell. In school, Michael enjoyed being a part of the Clopton FFA, FCA, basketball, and track. Along the way, he touched many lives in a short period of time. In looking to his future career, working with his Dad in construction, Michael attended building trades at Pike/Lincoln Vo Tech. In his spare time, hunting, fishing, hanging out at the “Y”, and riding his 4-wheeler brought him much joy. Without a doubt, spending time with his family and friends was very important, but above all else, his relationship with the Lord stood out. Whether it was spending time in church (Dover Baptist), young Christian youth groups, or reading the Word, Michael knew putting God first puts everything else in order. We, the family, would be remiss if we didn’t thank all the wonderful caregivers that dedicated themselves caring for Michael over the 2nd half of his life. The compassion and love of these individuals left a lasting impact not only on Michael, but also on the family.
