Joseph Lee Owens

Joseph Lee Owens, age 65, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Cremation rites are under the direction of Collier Funeral Homes in Louisiana, MO and a celebration of life service will be held on February 25th from 1-5pm at the Clarksville Boat Club (310 S First St. in Clarksville). Joe was born April 14, 1957 in St. Louis, MO, the son of Donald and Barbara Langston Owens. He lived his entire life in Pike County, spending the last 35yrs in Eolia, in the home he built for his family. Growing up, Joe was raised in the Catholic Church and attended Clopton Schools, where he graduated with the class of 1975. Upon graduation, Joe began working in the construction industry. He worked for several construction crews until he began Owens Home Improvement, which he operated for the past 15 years. Whether tending to his vegetable garden or lounging on his porch, Joe loved the outdoors and any opportunity he had to be there. He also enjoyed playing volleyball and boating on the river with friends from the Clarksville Boat Club. Wherever he was, you could be sure he was listening to KSHE’95, with some of his favorite Classic Rock artists being Sammy Hagar, Tom Petty, the Eagles, and Bob Seger. If he wasn’t out and about, he could be found spending time with his lifelong best friend, John Wayne Graham. He was also known to be an excellent chef who took pride in large spreads and the smoked meats that would serve as the centerpiece for family meals. Joe was previously married for over 16 years to LuAnn Noble and spent the last year with his significant other Lisa Brown of Louisiana. Joe is survived by Lisa and his two daughters: Aften Elizondo (Thomas) of Hannibal, and Lea Kinne (Jacob) of Wentzville. He is also survived by his grandson, Liam “Hotshot” Kinne, whom Joe loved to take fishing and four-wheeling, He was preceded in death by his parents.
