John Blackwell

Mr. John M. Blackwell, 88, of Louisiana, Missouri passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at Eminence, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A. M. Saturday, October 10th at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana, Missouri. The Rev. Alvin Young will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 P. M. Friday, October 9th at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery near Louisiana, Missouri. Mr. Blackwell was born December 17, 1920 in Eolia, Missouri to Benjamin Franklin Blackwell and Audrey Belle (Colbert) Blackwell. He married Goldie Fern McCormick on December 17, 1938 in Bowling Green, Missouri and she preceded him in death on June 26, 2009. He is survived by one daughter, Dolores Gay Umfleet of Hannibal, M0., a daughter in-law, Pat Blackwell of Frankford, M0, three sisters, Merle (James E.) Page of Bowling Green, M0, Lou Ella (Marvin) Henry of Troy, M0, and Norma Jean (Leonard) House of Louisiana, M0. One sister-in-law, Delores Blackwell of Curryville, M0, two granddaughters, Lisa (Bruce) Lawrence and Lori (Steve) Early both of Louisiana, M0, One grandson, Troy (Amy) Blackwell of Frankford, M0, One granddaughter in-law, Rose Collard of Louisiana, M0, Three great granddaughters, Crystal Wilson, Katie Blackwell both of Louisiana, M0 and Taylor Blackwell of Frankford, M0, One step-great-granddaughter, Dee (Aaron) Fairchild of Bowling Green, M0, Three great grandsons, Christopher Wilson, Tyler Blackwell both of Louisiana, M0 and Tanner Blackwell of Frankford, M0, Four step-great grandsons, Steve & Dana Early of Bowling Green, M0, Ben Grover of Curryville, M0 and Shawn Early of Elsberry, M0, Three great-great step-granddaughters, Jaylen Early and Izabella Fairchild of Bowling Green, M0, and Malaya Grover of Curryville, M0. Three great great step-grandsons, Joshua Early, Xavier Fairchild and Zander Fairchild all of Bowling Green, M0 and many Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. John M. was preceded in death by his parents, a still born son, twin sons, Jerry Lee Blackwell and Gary Bee Blackwell, one grandson, Russell (Rusty) Dean Blackwell and one brother, Carl Blackwell. John M. was a farmer most of his life in Pike County, Missouri. He was a member of the Grassy Creek Baptist Church, serving as Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He was an avid horseman and member of the Missouri Fox Trotters Association and a forty year member of the Fairview Cemetery Board. He will be missed by many.
