Funeral services for Mr. James Keith Spencer, 88, of Louisiana, Missouri will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 22nd at the First Baptist Church in Louisiana. The Rev. Ben Teague assisted by the Rev. Jason Hamilton will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, September 21st at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana. Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery in Louisiana. Mr. Spencer passed away Friday, September 18, 2009 at the Maple Grove Lodge Nursing Home in Louisiana. Jim was born August 31, 1921 in Urich, Missouri the son of Anthony and Thelma Morrow Spencer. He was married to Bonnie Barton and from this union was born one son, James Spencer, Jr. and a daughter, Gwen O’Dell. Jim later married Jennie Kilby August 22, 1969 at the Presbyterian parsonage in Clarksville, Missouri. He is survived by his wife, Jennie Spencer of Louisiana, Missouri, One daughter, Gwen O’Dell and husband, Jim of the State of Texas, one step-son, Ronnie Dale Blackwell and wife Alecia of Essex, Illinois, 5 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, Three brothers, Al Spencer and wife, Leona of Pasco, Washington, Lincoln Spencer and wife, Dorothy of Charleston, South Carolina and Foy Spencer of Walla Walla, Washington and one sister, Irene Druce of Pasco, Washington. Jim was preceded in death by one son, James Spencer, Jr. and one step-son, Rick Blackwell who died in 1971. He had been employed as a Customer Service Agent for Illinois Central Railroad Company for 37 and a half years before retiring. Jim was a veteran serving with the United States Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Louisiana and had been very active in the church. He was a member of American Legion Post 370 in Louisiana. Honorary pallbearers are; John Lewellen, Leroy Tolson, Bill Eastman, Don Bronson, Jack Altizer and James M. Davis, Jr. Active pallbearers are; Don Ince, Robert H. Ince, Sam Kilby, Robert Kilby James T. Griffith, Jr. and Walt Gilbert.
