Jacob "Dan" Buckley

Jacob Daniel Buckley, age 95, of Clarksville passed away Friday, August 21, 2026 at his home. A Memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. September 28, 2026 at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana, MO. The Rev. Nathan Adams will officiate. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until time of service at the funeral home. Dan was born on July 31, 1931 in Jacksonville, IL to Fred and Kathryn Chance Buckley. He grew up in Blue Mound, IL. During his High School years he moved to Pana, IL where he started working at his dad’s Monument Company at age 16 and was later drafted into the Army on February 14, 1952 serving in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged at the the rank of Corporal on February 8, 1954. After being discharged he came home to Pana, IL where he met the love of his life, Shirley Jane Hilton. They were married June 5, 1955. Dan and his wife Shirley eventually settled in Clarksville, MO with their 3 children Kathy (Gary Webber) Weiss, Brian Buckley and Mindy (Scott Hipes) Jensen. Dan and Shirley were married for 63 wonderful years before Shirley passed. Dan also has 4 grandchildren Travis (Amanda) Glascock, Alex (Emily) Jensen, Kim (Keith) Walters and Dakota (Noah Birk) Hipes, and had 10 great grandchildren Blaine, Jacob, Sarah, Abram, Bradyn, Bailee, Owen, Haley, Allie and Grant. After many business adventures including sandblasting, cabinet sales, refrigeration, car restoration and sale, monument lettering and many more. Dan was Lockmaster at Lock & Dam 24 for many years and retired after 30 years of federal service he retired in December of 1988. Even after retirement Dan would always be working on something. He was known for being the love of his family, being hard working and extreme knowledge of about every subject imaginable. Dan was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, his sisters and brother Lorraine, Judith, and Dave, a daughter, Kathy Weiss, and a great granddaughter Bradyn Jensen. Dan loved the rewards of hard work, his family, and probably above all sitting on his porch enjoying the view. The family would like to extend their extreme gratitude to the most caring Hospice Nurses and Dr. Jennings for their wonderful care. Memorials can be made to Pike County Hospice.
