Harold Keith Whitaker

Harold Keith Whitaker passed away on September 5th, 2021, at the age of seventy-nine sadly due to lung complications. Keith is survived by his children: Phillip and Susan Whitaker of O'Fallon, MO, Michael and Suzanne Whitaker of Troy, MO, Christopher and Brandon Hawkins of Wentzville, MO, and son in-law, Larry Owens of Wentzville, MO; grandchildren: Jessica and Josh Lamotte, Daniel and Anna Whitaker, Melissa and Jeremy Beckwith, Tiffany Whitaker, Thomas Whitaker, Michael Whitaker II, Johnathan Whitaker, Mataya Whitaker, Brylee Hawkins, Rylinn Hawkins and Brynlyn Hawkins; great-grandchildren: Logan Lamotte, Hunter Lamotte, Ivan Lamotte, Dylan Whitaker, Raelynn Whitaker, Autumn Beckwith, Ronni Whitaker, and Ava Beckwith, Bryson Reller, and siblings: Lee Wilcox, Charley Wilcox, Betty Reynolds, Don Whitaker, Sue Howell, Patti Whitaker Keith was preceded in death by his wife: Joyce Whitaker; father: Harold Whitaker; mother: Virginia Whitaker; stepfather: Stewart Nelson; stepmother: Lilly Whitaker; brothers: Phil Whitaker, Bill Whitaker; Daughter: Cindy Owens; Grandson: Barry Owens. Keith was born in Salem Missouri, to Harold and Virginia Whitaker on February 25, 1942. On June 9, 1962, he married his loving wife Joyce Whitaker of St. Charles, MO and spent the remaining 57 years together as much in love as they were on that very wedding day. Keith had a great love for music. In the late 60s he started playing in a band as lead guitar and vocalist and continued through the 70s. He occasionally would play guitar and sing at family gatherings. He also taught his daughter Cindy the basics and if you got lucky you could catch a duet. In Keith’s 50s, he enjoyed woodworking in his shed crafting and building various furniture pieces for his family including desks, pantries, cabinets, and cribs for each of the first grandchildren. When he and Joyce moved to Louisiana in 2007 it did not take long for them to find friends they would have for a lifetime. Some of these friends welcomed Keith into their rifle club “Malcom’s Marauders” becoming some of the best friends he had. He enjoyed the competitions but sharing a hobby with his best buds was what it really was about for him. Keith was, and always had been a man of strong Christian values. He raised all the kids with the phrase “If the bible says it then I believe it.” You could always count on him to find the verses in the bible that would relate to any faith related questions you would have. Our hearts will forever ache at the loss of this amazing soul as he has been the teacher of this family. From life values, morals, cars, fishing, building and much more, he instilled the knowledge and virtue that is still in our everyday lives. We will continue to pass down his teachings to all our loved ones in hope to shed a little light on how amazing it was to have Keith Whitaker in your life. IN MEMORY OF A LIFE SO BEAUTIFULLY LIVED. A visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 19th, 2021, at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana, MO. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
