Funeral services for Mrs. Goldie Fern Blackwell, 90, of Bowling Green, Missouri formerly of Louisiana, Missouri will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 30th at the Grassy Creek Baptist Church near Louisiana. The Rev. Brook Kurth will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 29th at Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery near Louisiana. Mrs. Blackwell passed away Friday, June 26, 2009 at the Moore-Pike Nursing Home in Bowling Green. She was born January 9, 1919 in Frankford, Missouri to George Washington McCormick and Clara Smith McCormick. She married John M. Blackwell December 17, 1938 at Bowling Green, Missouri and he survives. She is also survived by one daughter, Dolores Gay Umfleet of Hannibal, Missouri, One daughter in-law, Patsy Blackwell of Frankford, Missouri, Two granddaughters, Lisa Lawrence (Bruce) and Lorie Early (Steve) all of Louisiana, Missouri, One grandson, Troy Lee Blackwell (Amy) of Frankford, Missouri, One granddaughter in-law, Rose Collard of Louisiana, Missouri, Three great granddaughters, Crystal Wilson and Katy Blackwell both of Louisiana, Missouri and Taylor Blackwell of Frankford, Missouri, Three great grandsons, Christopher Wilson of Louisiana, Missouri, Tanner Blackwell and Tyler Blackwell both of Frankford, Missouri, Three step-grandsons; Steve Early and Dana Early both of Bowling Green, Missouri and Shawn Early of Elsberry, Missouri, One great step-granddaughter, Jaylen Early of Bowling Green, Missouri and one great step-grandson, Josh Early of Bowling Green, Missouri and numerous Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. Fern was preceded in death by her parents, Three sons, an infant son (stillborn), Twin sons, Jerry Lee Blackwell and Gary Bee Blackwell, a grandson, Russell Dean Blackwell, Three brothers, Ruby Edward McCormick, William Robert McCormick and Eddie Lee McCormick. Fern was a homemaker and devoted helpmate to her husband in his farming profession and a loving mother and grandmother. She was an active member of the Grassy Creek Baptist Church serving in the Women’s Missionary Union, as church secretary and treasurer. She loved to Crochet and work Cross Word Puzzles. Honorary pallbearers are; Bruce Lawrence, Steve Early, Stevie Early, Clay McCormick, Claudie Burroughs and Doug Hallows. Active pallbearers are; Eddie Page, Lef McCormick, Donnie Stewart, Gary Hays, Jerry Calvin and James T.
