Gladys Suddarth

A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held for Mrs. Gladys Mildred Suddarth, 93, of Louisiana, Missouri formerly of Clarksville, Missouri, Tuesday, March 31st at 10:00 a.m. at the Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Clarksville, Missouri. Father Lou Dorn will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 30th at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana, Missouri. Visitation will also be held at the church from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Tuesday prior to the Funeral Mass. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Clarksville, Missouri. Mrs. Suddarth passed away Saturday, March 28, 2009 at the St. Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield, Missouri. She was born March 24, 1916 in DeSoto, Missouri to Jacob and Mary Ann Vahey Armbruster. She was united in marriage by Father Tom Gerathy to William Thomas Suddarth, April 27, 1935 at the St. Joseph Catholic Parsonage in Louisiana, Missouri. He preceded her in death July 1, 1998. Gladys is survived by two sons, William Edward Suddarth and wife, Mary of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and Joseph Richard Suddarth and wife, Dewanah of Clarksville, Missouri, Three daughters, Madeline Carol Barteau and husband, Herb of St. Peters, Missouri, Rebecca Ann Wing and husband, Steve of Kirkwood, Missouri and Janet Louise Holland of Louisiana, Missouri, Two sisters, Mrs. Erma Ruhmann of St. Charles, Missouri and Mrs. Dorothy Penrod of Louisiana, Missouri, One sister-in-law, Peg Armbruster of Elsberry, Missouri, 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Philip Wayne Suddarth in 1977, A grandson, Michael Molloy in 1994 and two brothers and three sisters. Gladys had been employed as a seamstress for Wells-Lamont Glove Factory in Elsberry, Missouri for several years. She was later employed as a seamstress for Kamp Togs Garment Factory in Clarksville, Missouri until her retirement in 1978. She was a founding member of the Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Clarksville, a member of the Mary Queen of Peace Altar Sodality, Clarksville Garden Club, Salem Homemakers Club, Pike County Quilters and an active leader in the Calumet 4H club. She enjoyed sewing and Square Dancing in her past time. Pallbearers are; Tony Molloy, J. R. Suddarth, Brian Suddarth, Richie Holland, Clint Wing and Steve Wing.
