Funeral services for Mr. Gilbert William Patrick, 92, of rural Bowling Green, Missouri, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 26th at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana, Missouri. The Rev. Bill Dexheimer will officiate. Burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery near Louisiana, Missouri. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 26th at the funeral home. Mr. Patrick passed away September 22, 2010 at the Moore-Pike Nursing Home in Bowling Green, Missouri. Gilbert was born November 22, 1917 in Pike County, Missouri to Charles Allen and Lizzie Ellen Beasley Patrick as the youngest son of 12 children. He married Sarah Elizabeth Carr on Christmas Day, December 25, 1938. Over 65 years later she preceded him in death on October 22, 2004. He is survived by 2 sons, Gilbert W. Patrick, Jr. and wife Marilyn of Mexico, Missouri, and Morris E. Patrick and wife Wanda of Jefferson City, Missouri, 1 daughter, Gail A. Jarboe and husband Richard of rural Bowling Green, Missouri, 7 grandchildren, Brian Patrick, Lisa Patrick (and mother Freda) of Kansas City and Blue Springs, Missouri, Deborah (Patrick) and Steve Leet of Manchester, Tennessee, Patricia (Patrick) and Chris Walker of Temple, Texas, Roxanne Patrick of Jefferson City, Missouri, Steve Jarboe and Jill of Lake St. Louis, Missouri, Laura (Jarboe) and Gregg Kent of Frankford, Missouri, 11 Great-grandchildren, Connor, Christian, James, and Jude Leet, Aaron, Sarah, and Anna Walker, Bailee and Lyla Kent, Nathan Jarboe, and Danny Mailith, and 1 sister, Lynda Hunter of Eolia, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Roy, Wiley, and John Patrick, 7 sisters, Rosie Ince, Laura Hollows, Ruth Murry, Bessie Fuqua, Bertha Waddell, Anna Epperson, and Minnie Long. Gilbert supported his family by working at the Western in Wood River, Illinois, then moving to the Louisiana, Missouri area by working at the Foundry, then in a plumbing shop and Stark Bros. Nursery. Most knew him as a Boiler Board Operator at Hercules Chemical Plant in Louisiana, Missouri where he retired after 27 years in 1982. An avid farmer all his life, he continued to farm and raise cattle as long as he was physically able plus being a devoted caretaker of his wife as her health declined. Pallbearers will be Steve Jarboe, Gregg Kent, Brian Patrick, Steve Leet, Christian Leet, and Connor Leet.
