George John

On July 18, 2012, George W. John, 74, of Louisiana, Missouri went to be with the Lord. He passed away at the Pike County Memorial Hospital in Louisiana, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 21st at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana, Missouri. The Rev. Jason Hamilton will officiate. Burial will be at the Jordan-Buffalo Cemetery near Louisiana, Missouri. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, July 20th at the funeral home. He was born February 23, 1938 in Bardolph, Illinois to George and Virginia John. He was the fourth of 8 children. George graduated from Macomb High School in 1955. He joined the United States Navy in 1956. George met Claire Reuter in 1962, while stationed at Quonset Point, Rhode Island, during a camp meeting at Old Town, Maine. George and Claire were married the following year in Foxboro, Massachusetts. They spent 49 wonderful years together. He spent 22 years with the United States Navy and after retirement in 1978 had a wide variety of jobs. The years he spent pastoring and preaching were the most enjoyable, and he was still preaching during April of this year while battling the effects of cancer. He had graduated from Trinity Bible College in Ellendale, North Dakota. George is survived by his wife, Claire of Louisiana, a son, William and his wife Pamela of Dallas, Georgia and their children Caleb and Zachary, a son, David of Norman, Oklahoma, and a daughter, Priscilla and her husband John Mahnker of Lyndonville, Vermont and their children Sarah, Elizabeth, and John, his brother Harold of Kenosha, Wisconsin, and 6 sisters, Louise of Sarasota, Florida, Rose of Colchester, Illinois, Joyce of Unity, Missouri, Esther of San Antonio, Texas, Linda of Macomb, Illinois, and Jacqueline of Peculiar, Missouri. He also had many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Pallbearers are; William John, David John, John Mahnker, Craig McPike, Charles Shelton and Kendel Posey. George will be deeply missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, siblings, and other friends and family.
