Funeral services For Floyd Oliver James, 79, of Louisiana, Missouri will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 13th at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana, Missouri. The Rev. Randall Cone assisted by The Rev. John Lersch will officiate. The eulogy will be given by Haines Moss. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, October, 12th at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery near Louisiana, Missouri. Mr. James passed away Thursday, October 9, 2008 at the Maple Grove Nursing Home in Louisiana, Missouri. He was born May 26, 1929 near Frankford, Missouri to Harold B. James and Pearl Winner James. Floyd lived and worked on his birth place until he moved to Louisiana at the age of 18. He had graduated from Frankford High School in 1947. Floyd had many hats on his head during his life. He was a dedicated and loving husband, father and grandfather. His working days started as a Cab Driver in Louisiana where he met his love, Darlene Burbridge and married her on June 10, 1951. Floyd also worked at the Wells-Lamont Glove Factory in Louisiana and the Shoe Factory in Vandalia, Missouri and at Stark Brother’s Nursery and Fowler Lumber Company from which he retired in 1992. Floyd is survived by his wife of 57 years, Darlene Burbridge James, Two daughters, Diana Bowler and Denise Blum and her significant other, Curtis Brown and grandson, Cody James Bowler all of Louisiana, Missouri. Four sisters, Three brothers, several sister in-laws, Brother-in-law, Nieces, Nephews, Great nieces, Great nephews and special friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Pearl Winner, James and father, Harold James, his step-father, Dollie Winner, Sister, Dorothy Wenger, brother in-laws, sister in-laws and two nephews. During his live Floyd enjoyed talking on the CB Radio as “Sawdust’ a name given while at the lumber yard. He also enjoyed collecting coins, gardening, yard work, traveling, fishing and spending special time with his grandson, Cody. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Louisiana. Honorary pallbearers were Gene Scroggins, Richard Walker, Curtis Miller, and Mike Lindsay. Active pallbearers were Cody Bowler, Curtis Brown, Ray Madison, Ed Muff, Ronnie Rue, and Sammy Meyers.
