Esther Elgin

Funeral services for Mrs. Esther Aileen Elgin, 84, of Hannibal, Missouri, Formerly of Louisiana, Missouri, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 29th at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana, Missouri. The Rev. Peerless Elgin will officiate. Burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery near Louisiana, Missouri. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 28th at the funeral home. Mrs. Elgin died January 23, 2009 at the Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia, Missouri. She was born April 13, 1924 in Pike County, Missouri to Cluey Pearly and Cora Bell Todd Griffith. She married Boyd Fleming Elgin December 13, 1942 in Louisiana, Missouri and he preceded her in death July 4, 2005. She is survived by four sons, David Kenneth Elgin of Frankford, Missouri, Boyd Fleming Elgin, Jr. of Kahoka, Missouri, Peerless Selby Elgin of Peculiar, Missouri, and George Cluey Elgin of Hannibal, Missouri, Four daughters, Cora Elizabeth O’Kane and husband, Richard of Rapid City, South Dakota, Linda Louise Elgin, Esther June Elgin, and Lori Ann Oja and husband, John all of Kansas City, Missouri, eleven grandchildren, one great grandchild, and two brothers, Okey W. Griffith of Louisiana, Missouri, and William D. Griffith of New London, Missouri. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Sharon Aileen Mullikin, four brothers, James T. Griffith, Pearly Griffith, Marshall Griffith, and Ollie Henry Griffith, and three sisters, Annie Griffith, Annie McCallister, and Lora Thompson. Esther was baptized at Sugar Creek Baptist Church in Pike County, Missouri and had attended church at First Baptist Church and Dover Baptist Church in Louisiana, Missouri, and the Fifth Street Baptist Church and Southside Baptist Church in Hannibal, Missouri throughout the years. She worked at the glove factory in Louisiana, Missouri prior to marriage and was a homemaker and rancher/farmer for the rest of her life. Pallbearers will be Ethan Griffith Elgin, Peerless Selby Elgin IV, Shawn Elgin O’Kane, Heath Richard O’Kane, Chance Fleming Oja, Trustin Andrew Oja, Nathan Roseau, and John Christian Oja.
