Ermadell Catherine Smith

Mrs. Ermadell Catherine Smith, 88, formerly of Louisiana, passed away Saturday, December 28 at Moore Pike Nursing Home in Bowling Green, Missouri. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 am Tuesday, December 31st at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Louisiana, Missouri. Fr. Lou Dorn officiated. Visitation was held from 4-8 pm Monday, December 30th at Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana with a Prayer Service at 7:30 pm. Burial was in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Louisiana. Mrs. Smith was born January 20, 1925 in the St. Clement area to Herman A. and Theresa C. Tepen Stark. She married Ollie Francis “Pete” Smith on October 30, 1946 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Louisiana, Missouri and he preceded her in death on January 10, 2006. Ermadell is survived by four daughters, Rosemary Hagemeier and husband, Glenn, of Elsberry, Elizabeth Toumbs of Quincy, Illinois, Judy Prater, of Clarksville, Carolyn Schmidt and husband, John, of Clarksville; two sons, Charlie Smith and wife, Margaret, of Troy, Missouri, Bill Smith and wife, Dana, of O’Fallon, Missouri, a brother, Ken Stark, who she raised as a son, and his wife, Liddy, of Jacksonville, Illinois, a brother, Tony Stark and wife, Jean, of Louisiana, a sister, Martha Lou Grote of Bowling Green, three sister-in-laws, Laura Scherder and husband, Cyril, of Ashley, Lucy Burris, of Bowling Green, Shirley Luebrecht, of St. Clement, a brother-in law, Robert Schroeder, formerly of Louisiana, and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two son-in-laws, David Toumbs (1988) and Glen Prater (2012), three brother-in-laws, Ansel Grote, Paul Luebrecht, and Edward Jr. Burris, and one sister-in-law, Bessie Schroeder. She attended grade school at St. Clement, Missouri and graduated from Louisiana High School. Ermadell was a homemaker, devoted wife, and mother. She was employed by Louisiana School District as a cook for a period of years where she was ‘Grannie’ to many children. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Ladies Sodality. She enjoyed flower gardening, cooking for her family, crocheting, and her special coffee friends. She also enjoyed watching and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She will be missed every day and loved always. Honorary pallbearers were; Clint Stark, Clay Stark, Jeff Wallace, Paul Smith, Corey Smith, Adam Slack, Zachary Barnes and Alexander Barnes. Active pallbearers were; Steven Hagemeier, Brian Toumbs, Daniel Prater, Matthew Prater, Timothy Booth, Jeremy Booth, Michael Smith and Andrew Smith.
