David Blackwell

David Blackwell, 64, of Bowling Green, MO, passed away at his home, with his wife and brother, on August 12, 2020. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 P.M. Saturday, August 22, 2020 at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana, MO. Pastor Bill Hobbs officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until time of service Saturday at the funeral home. David was born on March 22, 1956 to Willetta (Blackwell) Mitchell. David was raised by his grandparents Leon and Gladys Blackwell while his mother lived in Germany. He was married to Gabriele Blackwell on September 6, 1975. They share 3 sons who are their pride and joy. David was a man that didn’t know a stranger. He would do anything he could for anyone in need. He always had a story to tell and would always lend an ear or give a much needed hug. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He has taught several people to ride horses, ATVs, dirt bikes, how to hunt and handle a gun, and so much more. Everyone, no matter their age, had to go through training before doing anything around him. SAFETY was always his top priority. He also loved driving his 18-wheeler. Through a lot of hard work and determination, he was able to buy his own truck and started Blackwell Hauling LLC. David is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Gabriele Blackwell of Bowling Green, MO, 3 sons, LeRoy (Alicia ) Blackwell of Louisiana, MO, Donald (Jake) Blackwell of Troy, MO, and David “Davy” (Megan) Blackwell of Bowling Green, MO, his father in-law, LeRoy (Carla) Abbington of St. Charles, MO, 2 sisters, Diana McGinnis of Louisiana, MO, and Gladys (Stan) Conley of Clarksville, TN, 1 brother, Robert “Bobbie” Mitchell, 1 sister in-law, Monica (Jack) Kirkland of St. Louis, MO, 2 nephews, Stan Conley Jr., and Terron Conley of Clarksville, TN, 7 grandchildren, Batrice, Denise, and Jamal Blackwell, and Abricion Ivey of Louisiana, MO, Teven Blackwell of Troy, MO, Davyon and Dannilynn Blackwell of Bowling Green, MO, 3 great grandchildren, Draya and Aleah Blackwell of Louisiana, MO, and Millicent King of Elsberry, MO, a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews that he shared very close bonds with. David also has numerous other nieces, nephews, and grandchildren, that may have not been blood, but they were his family, our family. He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Willetta and Robert Mitchell, his grandparents, Leon and Gladys Blackwell, 2 brothers, Robert and Aldo Blackwell, his mother in-law, Helga Abbington, 2 aunts, Florence and Mae Della Blackwell, and 2 nephews, Shawn Conley and Don Weaver Jr.
