Curtis Colbert

Funeral services for Mr. Curtis David Colbert, 85, of Eolia, Missouri will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, September 15th at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana, Missouri. The Rev. David Nessing will officiate. Visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Friday, September 14th at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Antioch Cemetery near Bowling Green, Missouri. Mr. Colbert died Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at the home of his son, Curtis in Jefferson City, Missouri. He was born September 14, 1921 in Eolia, Missouri the oldest child of Leonard Emmett and Martha Edith Achor Colbert. He married Ethel Irene Finley, June 4, 1966 at the Centenary United Methodist Church in Louisiana, Missouri and she survives. Other survivors include; Two sons, Curtis Everly Colbert and partner, Carl of Jefferson City, Missouri and Herbert Leonard Colbert and wife, Lisa of Eolia, Missouri, One daughter, Ethel Ann Colbert Crawford and husband, Jimmy of Lexington, Tennessee, 9 grandchildren, Jessica Hatchett and husband, Billy, Richie Huckstep, Emily Crawford, Selena Crawford and Matthew Crawford all of Lexington, Tennessee, Ashley Garrison, Leigh Ann Colbert, Heather Colbert all of Eolia, Missouri and Matthew Colbert of Jefferson City, Missouri, One sister, Lulu Lee Clark, wife of Everly Clark, Jr. of Bowling Green, Missouri and two nieces, Myrna Trower and Karen Cover both of Bowling Green, Missouri. Curtis spent his entire life on the family farm at Eolia, Missouri. He and Irene did everything together as a family. Family was always first and foremost in his life and he possessed a deep love for the country way of life. Curtis loved to tell stories about his children and their growing up on the farm. Curtis retired from the Missouri State Highway Department in 1983 and then drove a school bus for the Silex School System for a number of years. He truly enjoyed driving the bus and being with the children. He had many fond memories of these years. He was a member of the Silex Baptist Church in Silex, Missouri. Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers are; Jeff Trower, Bill Cover, Roy Cover, Jacob Finley, Bruce Raithel, Clint Loman, Brett Loman and Larry Gamm, nephews of Curtis.
