Charles Griffith

Mr. Charles “Slick” Griffith, 88, of Osage Beach, Missouri formerly of Louisiana, Missouri passed away Thursday, May 13, 2010 at the Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach, Missouri. Funeral services were held Sunday, May 16th at 2:00 p.m. at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana, Missouri. The Rev. Randall Cone officiated. Visitation was held from Noon until time of service at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 16th at the funeral home. Interment was in the Bowling Green City Cemetery in Bowling Green, Missouri. He was born November 3, 1921 in Clarksville, Missouri to Oris and Katherine Sisson Griffith. He was married to Pauline Silvey, his wife of 43 years and she preceded him in death in 1988. Charles is survived by a son, Terry Griffith and wife, Elaine of Osage Beach, Missouri, Son-In-Law, Ray Woods of Jacksonville, Illinois, One sister, Laura Houchins of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, A sister-in-law, Frankie Griffith of Mexico, Missouri, Five grandchildren, Scott Griffith and wife, Amy of Belle, Missouri, Erin Butler and husband, Scott of Bolivar, Missouri, Dawne Brown of Jacksonville, Illinois, Jennifer Evans and husband, Jason of Jacksonville, Illinois and Jalana Woods of Jacksonville, Illinois, Eleven great-grandchildren, Alaina Griffith, Logan Griffith, Preston Griffith and Felicity Griffith all of Belle, Missouri, Shayn Butler and Jackson Butler both of Bolivar, Missouri, Dylan Brown, Brittini Brown, Jaelen Evans and Jacey Evans all of Jacksonville, Illinois and Kloe Woods of Jacksonville, Illinois, Nieces and Nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Woods who passed away in 2005 and an infant son, Charles Ray Griffith, Jr. He was a veteran serving with the United States Army during World War II attaining the rank of 2nd Lt. with Btry C, 310 FA, 79th Division and served in the European Theatre receiving the American Theatre Campaign Ribbon, European-African-Middle Eastern Theatre Campaign Ribbon with Four Bronze Stars, Victory Ribbon and the Presidential Citation. He lived his entire life in Louisiana, Missouri. He had worked as a Cattle Farmer, Upholstery Business, 25 years for the Pike County Special Road District and had worked for Rick Silvey Auto Sales in Louisiana. He retired after suffering a stroke at the age of 83. Pallbearers were; Scott Griffith, Kenneth Woods, Rick Silvey, Dale Spegal, Noahie Spegal, Barry Oliver and Scott Butler Memorials may be given to the US0 or to the donor’s choice.
