Barbara Anderson

Barbara Leone Anderson, of Jefferson City, formerly of Ashburn, MO, made her heavenly journey on Thursday, August 29, 2024. She passed away peacefully at the home of her son in Ashburn, MO where it all began. She was just four months shy of 100. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, September 6, 2024, at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana, MO. Steve Marshall and Daniel Farris will officiate. Burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery near Louisiana; MO. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until time-of-service Friday at the funeral home. Barbara was born on December 24, 1924, in Moscow Mills, MO to Harry and Catherine Lester Whipple. In 1938, after her father passed away from tuberculosis, while in the Marines, her mother Catherine moved Barbara and her brother Garth to Ashburn, Mo to start a new life. This is where she met the love of her life Charles W. (Chick) Anderson Sr. they were united in marriage on March 22, 1941. The union was blessed with eight beautiful children, four girls and four boys. Chick and Barbara made their home and raised their children in Ashburn, MO. In 2014 Barbara moved to Jefferson City, Mo to live with her daughter. She met many new friends who became family in Jeff. She enjoyed the adventures that a move presented and had many memorable moments during her time there. Barbara was a true example of a faithful servant of the Lord. She lived her life every day for her day of eternal rest. Her family was her greatest joy. She loved family gatherings and going to grandchildren’s activities, even at 99 years young she attended recitals, sporting events, and even tea parties. Through the years you could find her in the kitchen cooking up big meals for her family and anyone else who came along. She loved hosting and had the best time planning social gatherings for her friends. She also enjoyed sewing, crafting, writing poems, writing letters, reading, drawing, playing dominos and scrabble, (which she was quite good at). Our “Barbie Doll” was a classy lady, who you could be sure to find at any event in one of her lovely hats. She blessed all that knew her with her smile, prayers, love, and her beautiful way of being. She will be dearly missed by her family, special friends, and all who knew her. She is survived by seven of her children, Sheila Radford of Louisiana, MO, Jeanne Jolley of Jefferson City, MO, Charles Warren (Linda) Anderson Jr. of Arizona, Albert Leslie Anderson of Louisiana, MO, Neil (Lynda) Anderson of Ashburn, MO, Vance (Erin) Anderson of Louisiana, MO, and Lori (Ted) Brown of Louisiana, MO; 25 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren, 26 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, and nephews. Her husband preceded her in death on June 10, 1997. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother Garth Whipple, a daughter Lynda Lambert, sons-in-law Ronald Radford, Raymond Lambert, and grandsons Ronnie Redford, Vince Rubemeyer, Scott Rubemeyer, Bradley Rubemeyer, and Keith Anderson. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Memorials may be made to Community Loving Care Hospice, Louisiana Alumni Association, or donor’s choice.
