Averon Love

Averon Love, 82, of Louisiana, Missouri passed away July 12, 2016 at the Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m Saturday, July 23, 2016 at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana, Missouri with The Rev. Randall Cone officiating. Members of Elks Lodge 791 will conduct memorial services at 10:00 am Saturday at the funeral home. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to time of funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial of the cremains will be in the Fairview Cemetery near Louisiana with Military Honors by members of American Legion Post 370. Averon was born August 28, 1933 in Ashburn, Missouri, the son of Lilburn Harvey and Valeria Cox Love. On February 28, 1959 he married Mary Lou Waddell of Louisiana, Missouri in Palmyra, Missouri. Averon is survived by his beloved and devoted wife, Mary Lou Love of Louisiana, Missouri, one son, Gary Love (Robina) of Troy, Missouri, four grandchildren; Elvis Love and Amber Love of Troy, Missouri, Summer Theus (Lamont) of Sumter, SC, Sam Love (Kristen) of Troy, Missouri; 6 great-grandchildren, Jordyn, Gabriel and Marley Love of Troy, Missouri ,Jezlyn, Zya and Cruz Theus of Sumter, SC. Averon had one surviving sibling, Chester Love of Fulton, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Charles M. Love, Clarency Love, Laura Katherine Hart, Mary Copher, Maxine Weber, Ray Love and Orin Love. Averon graduated from Louisiana High School in 1951. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1951 – 1953. He was awarded three medals; National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and the Korean Service Medal. During his life, Averon was devoted to many service organizations. He was a Boy Scout Leader Volunteer of Troop 156 of Louisiana, Missouri and a lifetime member of both VFW Post 5553 and of the Louisiana Boat Club. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge 791 for 37 years and the American Legion Post 370 for 45 years. Averon also served on the American Legion Memorial Guard with great dedication and pride. Averon was employed with the Railroad Express in Hannibal, Missouri for 15 years until the company closed. He then joined Local 513 Operating Engineers from where he retired after 35 years of service. He was recently awarded a service pin for his time with the union.
